INNSiDE Newcastle was our accommodation for a recent trip to the city (read all about our foodie experience here). We have stayed at Melia before in Majorca, click here for our trip, but never an INNSiDE so we were eager to see what this brand was like.

INNSiDE by Melia is a four-star hotel on the quayside of Newcastle with, as you can see, stunning views over the River Tyne.

Location

The INNSiDE Newcastle is a brand new building by Quayside, right on the banks of the River Tyne. It’s not very far from Newcastle Railway Station and Central Station on the Metro system. The hotel is downhill from the city centre, so you might want to order a taxi for returning with your bags filled with goodies from Newcastle.

Inside the INNSiDE Newcastle

The reception area is right at the front door so none of that awkward what do I do bit that some places have. The area is bright and airy with a mezzanine floor with artwork on show, you can also find a gym on this floor. From the reception, the ground floor opens up into the bar and restaurant area.

Rooms at the INNSiDE Newcastle

We were booked into a studio room, there are seven types of room available ranging from a twin room to a townhouse. The studio room is 24 m in size with views over the River Tyne. Equipped with a king-size bed and sofa bed, complimentary mineral water, mini-fridge, coffee maker and air-conditioning.

The first quirky thing is the rotating signs, a bit different from the usual do not disturb.

Once you open the door, you can’t help but be drawn to the view. Thankfully there is a sofa here so you can relax with a tea or coffee and take in the view.

A comfortable king-sized bed, with charging points, and lots of seating including a table in case you need to order room service or do some work.

There is an open wardrobe, a luggage rack, a yoga mat, a Nespresso machine and capsules as well as a kettle. The espresso cups and tea mugs are cute.

Across from the wardrobe and hospitality area, you will find an open-plan bathroom. These seem to be popular throughout Europe, but….sometimes you just want to preen in peace, even without your favourite friend or other half there. Thankfully, the toilet is in a separate room, however, the sink is in the main open plan area.

Overall, a smart, clean and functional room – just what is required when exploring.

Restaurant, bar and breakfast

Like several other INNSiDE hotels the hotel has a Gino D’Acampo restaurant. We dined here with our group and found the menu to be wide-ranging and the service friendly and welcoming. If you are planning to dine here we would recommend booking as it was very busy for a weekday evening.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant and here you will find a buffet serving items for a full English breakfast, you can order freshly cooked eggs. Alongside this, there is an area with continental breakfast items.

The view out to the Tyne is lovely, hopefully, you get some sun when you visit as well.

Many thanks to INNSiDE by Melia and Newcastle and Gateshead Initiative for hosting us.
