Sharing menu with paired alcoholic drinks in Edinburgh city centre
Superico restaurant, located on Hanover Street in Edinburgh’s New Town, recently served up a special weekend brunch menu with four food courses to share, paired with four alcoholic drinks each for only £20pp. Note that the restaurant is at number 83 and down a set of stairs on the basement level but there is also a cocktail bar a little further down the hill at street level, 99 Hanover Street.
This intimate venue is perfect for catching up with friends, and we are in love with the decor, especially the tables.
The weekend’s special brunch when we visited was a mere £20 per person, which included four sharing plates between two, as well as four custom-made cocktails all using Twenty Light spirit, which is, as the name implies 20% ABV.

Starting with a simple yet refreshing gin and tonic alongside our first course – a taste of the Middle East / Southeast Med’ with flatbread, hummus, tzatziki and freshly roasted vegetables served with a Twenty & Tonic. We loved the tzatziki, especially with grilled peppers and courgette.
The second cocktail was a take on an Aperol Spritz with some deliciously fruity peach wine. With this came a meaty Beef Cheek Hash with romesco ragu, smoked cheddar and a fried egg. A much more substantial dish than the first course with a really tasty sauce.
Floradora cocktail was next, Twenty light spirit, raspberry, lime and ginger ale. This time served with a taste of Spain – a potato, egg, spinach, tomato and manchego frittata. Packed with ingredients but does not taste heavy.
It was soon time to taste our final cocktail which was almost a dessert in itself. Twenty light spirit, Lucky Liquor Co cacao and creme de menthe, and actual cream.
This was served with a fluffy waffle with mixed berries and syrup.
Verdict
Weekend Brunch at Superico is something we could get used to! There was a variety of international cuisines which were filling but still light enough that we felt comfortable at the end of the meal. The cocktails were superb and not overly alcoholic so you can enjoy them without lunch becoming a blur! Again, there was a variety of styles to keep things interesting.
