The recent heatwave has proved to be the ideal time to try a number of new ’garden-friendly’ drinks such as Pink Diesel, as chilled rose wine is something we always associate with summer.
Pink Diesel Rosé has been created by British entrepreneurs Amy Gatehouse and Marina Ayton using Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah grapes that are all hand-picked from a family-run vineyard in Bandol, France.

What is rosé wine?
Rosé is made from one or more (a blend) red grape varieties, typically Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese or Syrah but others could also be used. It isn’t red and white wines mixed together. Rosé wine starts off being made in a similar way to red wine, with the maceration of red grapes, the difference being that in red wine the skin is kept during fermentation whereas with rosé the skin is removed. This creates the gorgeous pink colour we know and expect.
Where is rosé from?
Rosé can be made from any red grape and from any region of the world but . It is, however, synonymous with the Provence region of France. Cinsault is the most popular grape variety for rosé in Provence, in fact despite not sounding like a popular variety it is actually the fourth most planted grape in France.
Pairing rosé with food
Rosé works well with fish, meat, salads, spicy food and much more making it a winner when it comes to food pairings, and because it is generally light and fruity it is also ideal for drinking on its own.
What is the correct temperature for rosé
Keep your rosé cold, ideally in a fridge to bring out that crisp taste. In between pours, keep your bottle in an ice bucket for a perfectly chilled glass.

So what did we think?
Pink Diesel is a salmon pink coloured wine with fresh strawberry and cranberry aromas and a light, crisp, dry taste concluding with a citrus finish. It’s really refreshing so ideal for sunny days in the garden but of course it can be enjoyed all year round.
Pink Diesel is available to buy online and can be purchased by the bottle, RRP £14.95, in cases of 6+, and in Magnums (1.5 lires). It is also available in Jeroboam (3 litres) and Methuselah (6 lites!) sizes.
