ginger cafe perth

Do you ever visit somewhere and once you have sat down you just know you will have some good food? This is how we felt at Ginger Cafe in Perth. We hadn’t researched it, but merely trusted our bellies as it pulled us in.

Inside is a quirky mixture of styles. It was bright, clean and busy.

Menu

The menu carries all of the usual, but with a German sausage section, something I didn’t expect to see in Perth!

What we ate

This is the Ginger Cafe mini breakfast £7.50. Sausage, bacon, potato scone, fried egg, beans, mushrooms, tomato and toast. I usually don’t bother with mushrooms as they as generally slimy little things, these however were soft in the middle but had a caramelised crunch. No slime here hurrah! A good sized breakfast, and just what we needed.

The mother got excited about the struddel sign. We have recently holidayed in Berlin and she was disappointed that we didn’t get the chance to eat apple strudel there. So this of course had to be rectified now.

A traditional apple strudel made with buttery pastry and served with a dollop of ice cream. This isn’t like the puff pastry ones you will find in the freezer, but the real deal pastry. Did you know that the dough in an apple strudel should be so thin that you can read a newspaper through it? This ensures that when cooked, the pastry is light and tasty.

Verdict

One to return to for more cake. Glad we stumbled across this one. Friendly service, good tea and tasty grub.
