What is an old fashioned cocktail?
The old fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters and water, adding whisky, usually Bourbon. is used. (typIt is traditionally served with ice in an old fashioned glass.
What type of whisky to use in an old fashioned?
Traditionally Bourbon is used in an old fashioned which is smooth with sweet notes. So, I think either a Highland or Speyside would work well. Islay would probably overpower the flavours for me.
