Edinburgh’s first Greek Wine fair – Wed 28th June DISCOUNT CODE INSIDE

Wine Events Scotland - Greek Wine Fair

Taste your way through Greece this month

Greece has been producing wine for centuries but it is really under-represented in wine shops, supermarkets and restaurants – we have often found that it’s even a struggle to find Greek wine in Greek restaurants!

I’ve just completed the WSET (Wine and Spirits Education Trust) level 3 course in wine and despite this being really intense with lots to study about the world of wine in just a short time, Greece merits less than a page and a half of content despite their being more than 180,000 growers, 1,200 wineries and 200 native and interesting grape varieties, the main ones being Xinomavro (red), which is a bit like the Italian Nebbiolo, Agiogitiko (red) and Assyrtiko (white). It’s not all retsina, which is what many associate with Greece and possibly puts them off trying more Greek wine.

It doesn’t need to be all Greek to you so if you’d like to learn more about Greek wine, Wine Events Scotland will be hosting Edinburgh’s first-ever Greek wine fair at The Assembly Rooms in the New Town on Wednesday 28th June from 6 – 8 pm. 32 Greek wineries will be represented showcasing Sparkling, white, red and dessert wines primarily made with indigenous varieties, such as Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko, Liatiko,  Malagousia, Mavrodaphne, Roditis, Savatiano, Xinomavro and more.

Tickets cost £25 per person while a group of four tickets works out at £20 per person but if you use code WESGREECEFE#20 when booking you’ll get 20% off!
