ScotRail Off-Peak fares all day long
Some superb news from ScotRail. A six month trial funded by the Scottish Government starts on 2nd October 2023.
This scheme is to make public transport more accessible and affordable, and encourage people to ditch the car and travel by train.
This means that customers will be able to travel at any time of the day on Off-Peak tickets. For example, train tickets for travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow at peak times will drop from £28.90 to £14.90.
There will be seven or eight carriage trains operating during traditional peak hours on the Edinburgh-Glasgow via Falkirk High route, and additional carriages between Airdrie and Balloch, and on the Argyle Line.
Unfortunately, there are no additional diesel trains to increase capacity on the routes where they operate, for example between Aberdeen/Dundee/Inverness.
The trial is scheduled to run for six months from 2nd October 2023 until 31st March 2024.
