Altamura Vodka launches in the UK
Italy isn’t normally known for vodka, more likely the bold flavours of amari-based cocktails and wine. This may soon change with the arrival of Altamura Vodka. Read on to find out more about this new premium vodka.
Where is Altamura Vodka from?
Altamura Vodka is made from 100% Altamura wheat grown in Altamura, an area within the Puglia region of Italy – the heel of the boot of Italy.
What is Altamura wheat normally used for?
This wheat is normally used to make Pane di Altamura, a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) bread. Did you know that this bread must be produced according to a range of strict conditions including using particular varieties of durum wheat, a certain specification of water, a consistent production method, and a crust that is at least 3 mm thick.
What does it taste like?
This is a smooth and crisp vodka. It reminded me a lot of Russian vodka, perfect straight out of the freezer and ice cold. There is a slight lemon zest taste as well as a hint of black pepper in there as well. This vodka mixes well with some aperitivo and vermouth, giving a smooth and enjoyable cocktail experience.
Where can you buy Altamura Vodka?
The vodka is available to purchase via Master of Malt.
