Luxury tasting chai from Tchai Ovna
Tchai Ovna is (was?) a bit of a legendary place in Glasgow. Since it’s opening around 2000 it brought a piece of Czech Cajovna, that is boho Czech teahouse vibes to Glasgow. Unfortunately after 23 years the teahouse has closed, however you can still buy the tea online.
Online you can buy white tea, green tea, black tea, blends of tea, teaware and spices to make your own teas.
We tried a couple of their popular blends at home. First up Yogi Yogi Chai Masala Chai blend luxury jar
This comes in a refillable 100g gold leaf-printed jar which is almost worth buying for itself. This is a rich, sweet and spicy drink which has been inspired by North Indian “chai masala” and is made with Assam loose leaf black tea and spices, including cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and ginger.
Each jar contains 100g of Yogi Yogi Chai – 2g makes 1 teapot.

We also tried some Crofter’s Chai – Seaidh a’ Chroiteir. This tea is similar to the drink above with the added oomph of some Hebridean peat smoke giving it an extra level of richness.
Both of these drinks can be sweetened with honey or sugar.
Both of these teas delivered that Chai taste, with the peat smoke winning me over for a snuggle on the couch with a warming drink afternoon feel.
