Locanda de Gusti – New Location for Edinburgh Restaurant

Locanda de Gusti opens its Dalry Road doors on Monday 19 May at 5pm.

The couple, renowned for their genuine Italian hospitality and respect for traditional recipes and techniques, have been part of the Edinburgh dining scene for almost 30 years. Edinburgh-born Maria hails from a family of restaurant owners whilst Rosario, who was born and raised in Naples, started his culinary career in the capital in 1986 aged just 15.

Using authentic ingredients like Gragnano pasta, scamorza, and tomatoes carefully sourced and imported from Italy, as well as top-quality meat, fish and seafood from Scotland, Locanda de Gusti plans to serve tasting menus as the main core of their offerings. With menus starting from £20 per person, Rosario will create a variety of traditional Italian dishes such as linguine à pescatora, provola dei poveri and babà salsiccia e friarielli that will differ during each service depending on what’s available, and incorporating ‘specialties of the day’.

Rosario commented: “We’re looking forward to opening in our new premises on Dalry Road. Our approach of serving simple, good ingredients will remain the same, but by deciding to focus on tasting menus allows us to show off a fantastic array of authentic dishes from Naples. The kind of food I grew up with!”

The tasting menus, which can be tailored to diners’ appetites and budgets, will be complemented by a table d’hote menu at lunchtime.
