New cafe with mouth-watering cakes
Bell & Felix have just opened and are a breath of fresh air to the Shawlands cafe scene. Strathbungo seems to have leapt ahead in the quality stakes but I’m sure Shawlands will make a comeback!
Mr Foodie started with an Illy flat white (£2.50), creamy and tasty – not very strong, so just enough to gently awaken for brunch.
The Earl Grey tea (£2.15) from Jenier World of Teas didn’t come with the offer of lemon or milk. Mrs Foodie had it black as it was strong and fragrant.
A view of both dishes
Full breakfast (£7.50) Delicious bacon, crispy fat so we were able to munch away at this. A bit of choice re egg style would be good.
Eggs Benedict (£6.50). Strong and not overpowering or tepid hollandaise sauce, good amount of ham, perfect eggs and a good chewy muffin.
One from the specials board – berry bread and butter pudding. French style bread pudding. Moist, creamy and delicious – would be nicer warmer though 🙂
Bell & Felix isn’t long open but our first impressions are good, we shall need to come back when they’re most settled for some more brunch. Toilets in the basement and clean.
