Mrs Foodie was invited to visit Ibis Styles at 19 St Andrew’s Square, Edinburgh and take part in their Capture Styles blogger event.
Check in was painless and I was soon upstairs checking out my room for the night.
Everything you would need – cuppa, water, TV, internet, power points, and even a USB charger next to the bed.
Good amont of space for hanging clothes. The room size would be OK for a weekend, if staying longer I’d check out one of their larger rooms.
After noseying about the room, it was time to check out the rest of the hotel and meet up with the other bloggers. Much chat and testing out the bar led to a blur of an evening. 😉
Thankfully the breakfast is good, not just coffee and cereal here.; I was impressed with the selection for the price. This was a much better selection than at the Malmaison in Aberdeen, where we also visited recently.
Selection of fruit juices, cereals, ham and cheese, yoghurts inc. Actimel.
This side had a selection of bread and pastries as well as hot goods.
All too soon it was challenge time, free time to explore the hotel and its rooms. I was impressed with the decor, not totally kitschy Scottish but some good bits such as the neon stag and the origami stags on the art work.
Lots of attention to detail. I certainly didn’t expect this much quirkiness for a budget hotel.
We were then allowed out into the world with a scavenger tour of Edinburgh. A selfie with Greyfriars Bobby, a visit to The Museum of Childhood as well as a bus tour of Edinburgh – lots to see and photograph.
It was back to the hotel for lunch, chatter and to see who did best with the hunt. Lots of great images posted (check out #captureibisstyles). I didn’t win first place, but was extremely happy with second place, two nights at the Ibis in Liverpool! Since we have never been there it’s an ideal prize!
The Ibis Styles in Edinburgh is a great base for a break. Central location, friendly staff, everything you need in your room and it was peaceful as well. Will be chcking the prices of their other locations when we next travel.
TL;DR
+ USB charger next to bed
+ good breakfast
+ central location
– my room could be a little small if staying for a longer period.
