Edinburgh’s first Fizz Festival will be held at Edinburgh Academy on 29th October and it sounds like an event not to be missed!

There will be lots of fantastic fizz from around the world, masterclasses and food.

There are two sessions which run from 12.00 until 15.00 and 16.00 until 19.00. The awards ceremony takes place at 19.30.

MASTERCLASSES

Session 1: 12pm-3pm and Session 2:4pm-7pm, Saturday 29th Oct

Masterclass 1, 12.15pm & 4.15pm: THE WINES OF FERGHETTINA FROM FRANCIACORTA: Price £5

A real treat and a chance to taste and learn about Italy’s finest sparkling wines, presented by Doug Wood of Woodwinters, you won’t be disappointed! Duration 20mins.

Masterclass 2, 1.15pm & 5.15pm: THE HOUSE OF CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER: Price £7

Mark O’Bryen MW will be presenting a selection of wines from Champagne Taittinger, one of the only Champagne houses to remain owned and actively managed by the family named on the label. The tasting will uncover how Champagnes can be so very deliciously different! Duration 20mins.

Masterclass 3, 2.15pm & 6.15pm: ALL ABOARD THE FIZZ LINE!: Price £5

Travel and taste the Fizz Line with Nikki Welch, founder of the WineTubeMap. A whistle stop tour of different styles of sparkling wines using their unique approach. Duration 20mins

I am a member of the Guild of Food Writers and British Guild of Travel Writers.

We have a wide range of judging experience covering products, hotels and have judged, for example, for Great Taste Awards and Scottish Baker of the Year.

Along the way Mark gained WSET Level 2 in Wine and I have WSET Level 2 in Spirits as well as picking up an award with The Scotsman Food and Drink Awards.
