Last week we checked out newcomer Revolucion de Cuba on Renfield Street. I think our memories have returned enough to put together a post (school night + lots of rum = not good!).
Location
On Renfield Street, across from Toni Macaroni and just up from Bread Meats Bread. Years ago it was a contact lens clinic, but it’s been empty a while now.
Decor
Bright colours and distressed walls covered with lots of photo space for Cuba, Castro and more.
Vibe
A live band made it hard not to get into the swing of Cuba. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Drink
Lots of rum and a few bottled beers that we hadn’t come across before, such as Crazy Mountain amber ale, Boulevard single-wide IPA and Maeloc cider.
Food
The menu is filled with Tex-Mex/Spanish fusion food. This won’t win authentic Cuban restaurant of the year, but if you are out for a night out it does the job. Just remember to save space for their churros with salted caramel sauce – mmmmm!
Verdict
This is a place for fun, ideal for a night out, birthday or a casual meal.
