Scotland’s largest free festival celebrating heritage
Fancy seeing inside Shearer Candles factory? Or how about noseying around the Sheriff Court? Well you can, and it’s free!
The Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival bookings open at 10am today (23rd August) and include around 116 buildings, 50 walks/tours as well as talks and events across the city. It’s all free but some events require pre-booking due to their popularity.
This year sees The Anchor Line and Bilson Eleven restaurants joining the likes of Glasgow Film Theatre and Glasgow Cathedral as explorable locations.
It’s well worth checking out the website to find local events, which you may not have known about otherwise!
Doors Open Days runs every September and we’ve been to many places, across all the nationwide Doors Open Days Events, to see behind the scenes. Previous years have seen the Irn Bru factory in Cumbernauld open for tours, it was so popular that we couldn’t get a ticket for love or money! However, we’ve had a peek at Glasgow Sheriff Court and had guided tours around many historic parts of the city.
The Glasgow Doors Open Days programme can be found here and runs 11th-17th September. For locations requiring booking – click here.
