The Laurels, Southside Glasgow

We needed to get out the house for some fresh air but the weather was a bit cold and wet…well, it certainly helped inspire our choices off the menu at The Laurels!

The Laurels is on Clarkston Road and is within walking distance of both Muirend Railway Station and Cathcart Railway Station, and it’s not far from The Couper Institute too.

A yucky day outside but inside The Laurels it was warm and clean. The laurels cafe muirend Glasgow

We visited when it was almost 3pm so quiet but seemed to have started a rush as four other people arrived just after us.  Even with a sudden arrival, our host handled it all without stress.

Food

As I said, the weather inspired today’s brunch choice. So some tea first to warm us up.  Earl grey (£1.85 each) with a lotus biscuit as well.

Mrs Foodie decided on the soup and half sandwich deal (£4.75) as the soup of the day was pea and ham, one of her favourites. 😍

A choice of sandwiches from cheese to coronation chicken was available.  A brown bread, cheese sandwich was picked.  Delivered to the table quickly, this was a basic but freshly-made sandwich. There was also fresh salad and creamy coleslaw on the side, and the soup was piping hot, filing and very flavoursome. 👍

Mr Foodie was embracing comfort food with his choice of a Cheesy Beanos (£4) AKA cheesy beans on, in this case, brown bread. You don’t see this on many menus but Mr Foodie channelled his inner child and scoffed the lot.

Overall, a cosy pit stop way from the rain with homely food, great soup and good prices. The sole staff member was helpful and friendly. Sadly we didn’t have time to sample the cakes and toilets not checked on this visit.
