Courvoisier Drinks Trolley at The Corinthian, Glasgow
Courvoisier, the world-famous cognac have launched a drinks trolley at the Corinthian Club in Glasgow and we were invited along to have a meal and try some Courvoisier cocktails. 🍸
So, the drinks trolley includes two classic Courvoisier serves to enhance the experience of those dining at the Corinthian.
Decor
Secluded booths surrounded by the glamour of old. Did you know The Corinthian Club started life as The Glasgow and Ship Bank? It then became the headquarters for Lanark County Council in 1930. Then in 1964 it was purchased by the Court House Commissioners for use as additional sheriff court.
The Tellers Bar and Brasserie is impressive with stunning plasterwork and cupola.
Menu
A wide menu, we struggled to pick something as they all sounded ‘orderable’!
So we started with a Courvoisier Champagne cocktail whilst looking at the menu. 🥂
This cocktail consists of a sugar cube soaked in Angostura bitters and placed into a champagne flute. Covered with a liberal amount of Courvoisier VSOP and topped up with Champagne. There are worse ways to look over a menu!
Starters
Pan-fried scallops with pancetta & Apple salad, samphire and pickled cucumber.
The plump scallops sat well with the salty pancetta and sweet apple salad. Just the right amount of salty and sweet to keep the dish interesting.
For myself, since it’s the season, I ordered grilled asparagus, citrus hollandaise and poached hens egg. Lightly grilled asparagus which was sweet and tasty. The citrus hollandaise added a fruity flavour to the creamy poached egg and fluffy toast.
Main Courses
Atlantic monkfish with potatoes, asparagus and champagne beurre blanc. Meaty and chunky monkfish served alongside sweet asparagus and salty Parma ham. Perfectly cooked potatoes and a buttery beurre blanc.
Seared duck breast with buttered cabbage, fondant potatoes, roasted pear and puffed buckwheat plus a side of panzanella salad. The cabbage was mmm salty and buttery, just as I like it. Moist duck, which could have been a bit pinker for me, but I was asked how I wanted it cooked and took the chef’s recommendation. The pear was also soft and a slice of pear with the duck was 😍.
Dessert
Courvoisier chocolate tart with sorbet and fruits. This dish was entered as part of the Courvoisier competition. I’m not a big chocolate tart fan, so Mr Foodie had a bonus here! It was thick, chocolaty and had a buttery base – really everything you need in a chocolate tart! The sorbet and fruit was tart, in a waken up the taste buds way.
The dessert was served with a Cafe Courvoisier (£6.50). Drink it together or separately, the choice is yours. Just make sure to try some alongside the chocolate tart. I mixed them together for a more extravagant end of the meal drink.
The Courvoisier Drinks Trolley certainly fits in with the surroundings at The Corinthian Club. Decadent and luxurious.
We moved into the Boutique bar at the front of The Corinthian Club to relax with a Courvoisier Mocha Martini (£8).
This one has Courvoisier VSOP, Baileys, Espresso, Lejay Creme de Cacao and cream. Another mmm from us both. Not as strong as some espresso martinis and certainly had that Mocha creamy taste I was looking forward to.
The Courvoisier Drinks Trolley is available at The Corinthian Club until the end of the year. This would be perfect for a romantic night, or a get together with the girls.
