Get your Greek on at Halloumi Southside
The sibling of Halloumi, the Greek-Cypriot restaurant on Hope Street, has now opened Southside. 👏
The former art gallery building, and before that Bank of Scotland, at the corner of Pollokshaws Road and Torrisdale Street is the Southside home of Halloumi. We were invited along to sample their wares and see the new site.
Inside is light and spacious with a similar decorative style as the Halloumi site in Hope Street.
Menu
A Saint Basil cocktail to help guide us through the menu. Consisting of Larios Rose, Chambord, pink pepper, basil and cranberry.
Starting with some feta tempura, creamy feta encased in a light batter 😍 Melitzanosalata – roasts aubergine, garlic and olive oil served with warm pita. Even non-aubergine loving Mrs Foodie dived in for a couple of scoops.
Lamb souvlaki – charcoal grilled skewers of moist and tender lamb.
King Prawn Saganaki – plump prawns in a tomato and feta sauce. Very much like a marinara sauce 👍
Chicken tava – a cumin flavoured chicken casserole Greek style. The chicken fell apart it was so tender.
Lastly, we couldn’t leave without having a gyro. A Halloumi one this time. Grilled Halloumi, tzatziki, red onion inside a warmer flatbread.
As expected the toilets were spotless and the hand dryer experience was epic.
