Recently renovated from a Hogshead the James Tassie appears to take a modern twist on the traditional pub. Same menu inside, but better service and some cask ales now too.
Two meals for £5.49, we had scampi and chips (hurrah) and Lasagne – both good pub meals. Followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard (2-4-1 too!)
not the most stunning cuisines, but a lunch, great stuff. Much better standard that Wetherspoons along the road.

But, let’s face it, victorian workhouses probably served up better grub than Wetherspoons.
