Find out all about the world-famous Bautzen Mustard
A visit to Bautzen isn’t a visit without tasting Bautzen mustard. We sought out their shop/museum just off the main square and found out more about the history of this tasty mustard.
Bautz’ner mustard is up there with Rotkäppchen wine in the things from East Germany that are still around. You’ll see the little tubs of Bautzen mustard in supermarkets and served in all good imbissstand.
Did you know that mustard has been produced in Bautzen since the early 1920’s? It became a state-owned company in 1953 and was East German-owned until 1993 when the Develey company took over.
