Bowhouse launches a seasonal programme of food, craft and outdoor workshops

Bowhouse seasonal programme

Bowhouse food hub and the Balcaskie Estate in the East Neuk of Fife are launching a series of classes, workshops, tastings and tours this summer, including wildlife photography, foraging, wild swimming and farm tours,  each event is priced individually and can be booked on the Bowhouse Eventbrite page.

The summer school event series comprises:

Charcuterie and Wine Tasting at Bowhouse

Friday 9th June, 7pm, Tickets priced at £42

Acclaimed charcutier Steven from East Coast Cured and Clare from Edinburgh’s Great Grog Wine Merchants will host an evening of wine and charcuterie tasting. Guests will learn more about the production and science of pairing food and wines.

Wildlife Photography Class on Balcaskie Estate

Thursday 6th July, 9am, Tickets priced at £125

Join experienced photographer, Chris Reekie, for a day of practical lessons learning how best to capture the stunning Scottish wildlife on Balcaskie Estate. Attendees must bring their own photography equipment and appropriate clothing as this will take place outdoors. A hot drink and baked pastry from Baern Café will be included in the ticket price.

Grass to Grill: Estate Tour

Friday 21st July, 4pm, Adult ticket £25, Child ticket £10

Join Sam Parsons, Farm Manager at Balcaskie Estate for a tractor-trailer ride and tour of the farms surrounding Bowhouse. This will be followed by a bbq from the Butchery at Bowhouse. The tour will get the whole family up close to visit native breed sheep, Tamworth pigs and the Lincoln Red cattle herd as well as learn about the different crops being grown on the farm and learn about the sustainable production methods being adopted by the farmers here.

Healing Herbs with Rosy Rose at Bowhouse

Saturday 22nd July, 10 am, £35

Fife based herbalist, Rosy, will take attendees on a short walk around the fields and woodland surrounding Bowhouse to identify and forage a selection of herbs and flowers. The group will prepare remedies to support wellbeing. Each ticket will include a sweet treat and hot drink from Baern Bakery and Café.

 

Foraging and Fortitude, Men’s Ocean Training

Friday 4th August, 10am, £135

This is an event to promote men’s mental and physical wellbeing. Jayson Byles is a sustainable seaweed forager and chef, who will host a foraging walk and cook up the ingredients over a campfire. Drew Smithsimmons of Cold Water Training is a professional therapist and cold water exposure coach who will guide a safe wild swim in the North Sea before demonstrating cold water immersion in a -5 ice water bath whilst revealing its physical and mental benefits.

Spoon Carving with Louise Forbes at Bowhouse

Friday 18th August, 11am, £70

Wood-worker Louise Forbes will teach attendees how to carve spoons in this hands-on workshop, with all materials provided. Refreshments and lunch will be included from the Baern Bakery and Café.
