Another Glasgow restaurant closes its doors this week
This week had already seen Michelin-recommended restaurant Monadh Kitchen in Bearsden close after six years, citing the cost of living crisis and covid pressures as the reasons for closing with immediate effect. Brian Maule at Chardon d’Or served its last service after 22 years on Saturday 22nd July.
The announcement was made on Instagram and Facebook.
After working in France, Brian joined
Michel Roux Jr and Albert Roux of Le Gavroche restaurant in London. At the age of only 24. Brian ran the kitchen here for eleven years and successfully retained their Two Michelin Star award throughout.
In 2001, Brian returned to Scotland and opened Brian Maule at Chardon d’Or.
Sad to see these fine restaurants closing. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will be the last of the closures.
