Emma Ideal location for historic old Görlitz and sightseeing
We stayed at Pension zur Wartburg in Görlitz which, we think, is part of a church outreach programme. The accommodation appears to have been originally designed for those wishing to stay and take part in the work of the church, however, don’t worry we were left to ourselves as guests.
The houses surrounding are worth stopping for an admiring look. Turn right out of the accommodation and you’ll be walking down to the river and looking over to Poland. Turn left if you want to wander back into the town centre.
Check-in was quick and simple, we were early but had already messaged to ask if it was OK to drop off our bags so we could wander. Being an old building, there isn’t a lift – thankfully we were only one flight of stairs up.
Bedroom
Here is what a triple room looks like. Other rooms available include single and twin rooms with private bathrooms. Each bed has its own ledge and lamp for reading. Towels were on our beds ready for use. They were small and well-used, but clean. Bottled water and a surprise chocolate for each of us.
The beds had firm mattresses and were sturdy. The heating was controllable and the windows could open as well if needed. Sockets for charging our phones, however, there could have been more of these.

Shower, toilet and sink within a large bathroom. There was a heated towel rail available. As you can see from the image below, the bathroom was clean and tidy.
Facilities at Pension zur Wartburg
Just along from the check-in office, there is a common room with a kitchen. Here you can help yourself to free fruit as well as tea and coffee. There are tables and chairs here for dining. Books and board games are available as well as free WiFi throughout.
Breakfast is available if you pre-book. We didn’t as wanted to explore what Görlitz had to offer.
Verdict
Clean and tidy with helpful staff and an excellent location.
