One way to celebrate Hanami (Flower watching) and appreciate cherry blossom is to buy all the things sakura.  Tobu Railway has some suggestions on where to find souvenirs, gifts and sweet treats.

Located at the base of Tokyo Sky TreeTOKYO Solamachi will be holding a Sakura Gourmet Fair until 9th April. What seems like every type of sakura sweet will be on sale. Nana’s Green Tea have released a special latte with cherry blossom, bean paste and hot milk.  Add some more sakura by accompanying this with a spring-coloured roll cake with a cherry blossom fragrance and wrapped with mochi, decorated with a cherry blossom and sprinkled with gold leaves.

Relax afterwards with a visit to Tokyo’s famous Sumida Park Selected as one of the best 100 places for cherry blossoms, it allows guests to enjoy sweets while relaxing and viewing the cherry blossoms.

For souvenirs wander along to Tobu Department Store located in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.  Whilst here you can indulge your love for cherry blossom sweets on the spot or keep them for souvenirs.

The Ginza Akebono shop in Tobu Department store is selling limited edition “Okaki,” thinly-sliced mochi baked in the shape of cherry blossoms, butterflies, and plum blossoms. Each package has a cherry blossom motif and includes sakura-shaped okaki sprinkled with sugar crunch and an assortment of rice-flavoured crisps.

I love Japanese pancakes and these cherry blossom doramisu from Kagurazakasaryo (also within Tobu department store) sound and look delicious. Cherry blossom-flavoured tiramisu cream sandwiched by bean paste pancakes mixed with cherry blossom syrup. Perfect with matcha ice-cream.

Tobu Railway is a major railway covering the Kanto area, spreading out mainly in Tokyo. The railway line connects many charming sightseeing spots crowded throughout the year, including the world’s tallest tower: Tokyo Skytree, the world heritage location Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which recently finished repair work lasting about four years on its newly revitalised Yomeimon Gate.
