COSMO all-you-can-eat at Silverburn shopping centre
COSMO buffet restaurant at Silverburn Glasgow has been recently named Best Restaurant in Scotland by The Golden Chopsticks Awards, co-founded by Gok Wan, to recognise outstanding East and South East Asian cuisine, and we were invited along to experience it for ourselves.
COSMO offer a range of food from around the world, so there’s something for everyone to keep mum, dad and the kids happy!
You’ll find the entrance to COSMO at the bus station and cinema end of the Silverburn centre, accessed through an external door, so not in the food court itself but between TGI Fridays and McDonalds.
We visited on a Sunday evening and it was busy, very busy, with a queue, and that included those of us who had a booking, so booking is highly recommended.
We were shown to our table after a short wait and ordered refillable soft drinks then ventured off to see what food was on offer. Should you want something stronger than a soft drink, there are cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits too.

What is there to eat at COSMO?
The buffet has Chinese cuisine including dim sum and Peking duck; Japanese, which includes sushi and teppanyaki; Indian, with pakora, curries and naans; Italian, pizzas and pasta; and there is even a carvery with a choice of meats, and potatoes, vegetables, gravy and Yorkshire puddings to accompany it.
The Chinese food section was the largest, and many of the guests visiting were Chinese families. We were pleasantly surprised to see so many prawn dishes, as usually at a buffet it’s mostly chicken. Special mention here for the salt & pepper prawns.
The best bit, for us anyway, of a buffet is being able to taste the cuisines you enjoy on the one plate – there is no judgement here. Bao bun with curry sauce, chips, a naan and sushi? On you go!
The Teppanyaki grill was a draw, freshly cooked meat or fish with noodles. Scallops and noodles please!
Overall, the quality of food was surprisingly good as buffet restaurants often go for quantity over quality, of course, some items were better than others, but we found a higher quality level than the typical buffet restaurant with a number of stand-out items, to name a few from the buffet, the salt & pepper prawns, dim sum, and honey spiced chicken. The teppanyaki and carvery were also great and something not seen in conventional buffet restaurants.
We were however disappointed in the pizza, it was very doughy; and the black bean sauce lacked the expected lip-smacking black bean taste.
Remember not to eat too much and leave some space for pudding. A selection of pocket money sweets (gummies), cakes, jelly and fruit are available plus a chocolate fountain and ice cream machine with flavoured sauces. The cakes are cut into small squares so you can try a few different ones. Apple pie was the best of the cakes we tried, while the brownie was quite dry.

We were invited by Cosmo to try out their buffet, as always the threat of Frankie not being happy with any untruths makes this an honest review.
