Scotch Creme Egg
There can’t be a better Easter indulgence than a gooey Cadbury Creme Egg?. It’s far too easy to reach for another one. Here’s something a little different, a chocolate scotch egg. A Cadbury Creme Egg surrounded in chocolate brownie and then covered with sprinkles.
Scotch Eggs are something we like, but this is different. If you don’t know what is a Scotch Egg then it is a boiled egg that is covered in sausage meat and breadcrumbs, ideal for summer snacking. These Scotch eggs are a little bit different as they are sweet, not savoury and require no cooking at all, and, they are a lot tastier.
This is an exceedingly lazy recipe, everything is pre-made so the only time it takes is construction time.
We started with ready-made brownies which we then crumbled up and mix together with ready-made buttercream. Wrap the brownie/buttermilk mix around a bought creme egg and then using store-bought sprinkles, cover your egg. And now you have chocolate Scotch eggs.
Ingredients
450 g cooked chocolate brownie, crumbled
3 heaped tbsp vanilla buttercream
7 Cadbury Creme Eggs
Chocolate sprinkles for coating
Method
Add the crumbled chocolate brownie to a large bowl.
Add the buttercream.
Mix thoroughly.
Take a small amount of the brownie mixture and mould it around a Creme Egg.
Add more brownie mix until the Creme Egg is fully covered.
Roll the egg in chocolate sprinkles.
Repeat with more Creme Eggs until the brownie mixture is used.
We got about 7 eggs out of this mixture.
