Cubist Street Lamp in Prague

We like our geekery here at Foodie Explorers, however, wandering about searching for a cubist street lamp in Prague isn’t what I thought we would have been doing!

You’ll find this cubist oddity in a quiet corner of Jungmann Square, not far away from the hustle of Wenceslas Square.  Tucked away here is not only a lampost, but the only cubist street lamp in the world.

The geometrically shaped lampost is made of reinforced concrete and was designed by Czech architect Emil Kralicek  in 1913.

The glass and the metal lamp on the top have been replaced by a copy and the original is stored in the National Gallery of Prague.
