Dulse Edinburgh seafood restaurant and bar in the West End
Dulse Edinburgh has been open since July 2022 taking over where L’Escargot Blanc was in the West end of Edinburgh, which closed during lockdown. MasterChef: The Professionals 2018 finalist Chef Dean Banks also runs the nearby Dean Banks at the Pomadour inside Waldorf Astoria: The Caledonian on Princes Street.
Dulse is a more casual affair, a neighbourhood-friendly restaurant upstairs, which is featured in the Michelin Guide in their Best Seafood Restaurants in Scotland list. The ground floor houses an intimate wine and cocktail bar which serves small sharing plates.

As with the name and the Scottish seafood packed menu, the sea not far away in its decor with fish artwork and seaside colours around.
With the name seafood and wine, there is an abundance of both. Don’t forget to try out the Mond vodka or Lunun gin which are two of Head Chef Dean Banks side projects.
Lunch Menu
We were here to try their lunch menu which is priced at £23pp for two courses and £29pp for three courses.
What we ate
First courses arrived with peppered trout, Katy rodgers crème fraîche and rye bread.
West coast mussels, San Francisco Cioppino. Now, we had no idea what San Francisco Cioppino meant, thankfully our server helped. It is a seafood stew which was brought to San Francisco by Italian immigrants.
The next course was ready to be served, Ling, roasted cauliflower, caper brown butter and samphire.
Scorched Peterhead mackerel, rouille and Grelot onion.
Dessert time, tropical Eton Mess and an Affogato.
The deconstructed Eton Mess
Verdict
Alongside its sister restaurants of Dean Banks at the Pompadour, Haar restaurant with rooms, Dulse Glasgow and The Forager pub, Dulse Edinburgh strives to bring seasonal produce, traditional flavours with a modern twist.
