Woodfired pizza in Edinburgh’s West End

Froth and Flame in Edinburgh have been serving beers and pizza in the West end of Edinburgh since 2019. It had been a while since we had visited so time to go again and see if the pizza was still good.

What we drank

On tap are beers from Keith Brewery, Alchemy, Broughton Brewery and Spey Valley. There is an extensive cocktail and wine list.

A pint of Spey’s Cadet and a glass of The Bulletin White, Zinfandel. Both served cold and fresh.

What we ate

Crispy Ravioli to start, filled with chicken, pancetta and ricotta and topped with a Pomodoro sauce, and basil leaves. A superb balance of flavours and textures.

Dolomite pizza – tomato base, smoked scarmoza cheese, speck ham and crispy sage.

Thick slices of Scarmoza cheese and lots of ham. A perfect combo atop the chewy wood-fired pizza.

Froth and Flame – tomato base with mozzarella, rocket, olive pil, balsamic vinegar, flat iron steak, olives, sun blushed tomatoes, red onion and Grana Padano.

The steak is cooked how you like it, and with the Grana Padano cheese is lounging over the steak to add that slight buttery coating to the steak.

Verdict

A three paw rating from us. Fresh and tasty ingredients atop a wood fired oven pizza. A relaxed venue with friendly service.
