MI + ME located in St Pancras International Station is short for Milk and Meat – a reflection of the goods delivered to St Pancras Station in days gone by. Down in London for a visit, we nipped in for lunch whilst admiring the architecture of this amazing railway station and hotel. I’m a big fan of the station and the hotel, such a big beast but delicate and ornate at the same time. I was lucky enough, a good few years back, to get a look inside the hotel before the Spice Girls got in! It was a sad state and I’m happy to say it has received much love and attention since to bring it back to its glory.  Fingers crossed for a little trip overnight sometime!

From looking over the railway station it’s an impressive view towards France, well, of the Eurostar trains with the statue of John Betjeman nearby to keep you company.  The seating is casual and low key, it doesn’t compete against the eye-catching station and hotel.

MI+ME Menu

The menu promises the best of British produce and can be eaten in or taken away.  Food ranges from breakfast baps and deli style sandwiches to meat and cheese boards.

We had a nibble of the cornichions (crisp and tangy) and debated the menu, in the end we decided on some Chapel Down 3 Graces sparkling English wine at £7.50 a glass, it was a Friday and  we were visiting London after all! It was light and not overly fizzy – a good effort and one I would very gladly drink again!

The cheese and meat trays sounded delicious.   With a choice of British cheeses and meats at various prices we choose the five cheese tray at £13 served with quince jelly, herbed butter and walnuts, as well as bread.  The meat tray was also £13 and came with three meats and a rillette as well as creamy butter.

Good chunks of cheese, fresh bread and sweet quince jelly to accompany the cheese.  An excellently picked selection of goats, hard and soft cheese, yum!

Three types of British meats, in continental charcuterie styles.  Deep flavour and smells around this tray.  The chunky rillettes added a tang to the meat and fluffy bread. Thumbs up again.

The sound of the Laverstoke Mozzarella, Avocado, Heirloom Tomatoes and Leaves salad (£6.50) tempted us order of this too.

Smooth and creamy avocado with blobs of mozzarella which was a perfect accompaniment to the meat and cheese.

The trays comfortably fed two hungry foodies – our bellies now full, just needed a coffee booster (£3).

MI+ME is ideally suited for a pre or post-train journey meal, or simply somewhere to meet friends for a light lunch/dinner, especially with the delicious cheese and meat selection on offer.

Toilets were clean but a bit of a trek away, the only other downside was that it could be a bit too noisy for some people but aside from that we had a wonderful pleasant lunch taking in the grand surroundings of this famous station, and for us Glaswegians it’s only a short walk from Euston making it the ideal first or last food stop on a trip to London.
