Grianach, Nithsdale Road, Glasgow – NOW CLOSED :(

I’ve been meaning to visit here for a long time. We ventured down for some lunch time action. Soup and a sandwich for £4.90, excellent value I think for the tasty fare we received. I had leek and potato soup and their “Do the continental” sandwich – which consisted of salami, chorizo, gherkins, cherry tomatos and wholegrain mustard on lovely fresh brown bread. Otherhalf had spicy tomato soup with “Think Pink” sandwich – smoked salmon, spring onion and cream cheese on brown bread. Soup could’ve done with a wee bit of cream but the tatties were cooked to perfection and lots of leek, some cracked black pepper in the cream cheese would’ve topped the sandwich off to perfection but they were nearly there. Would recommend visiting here, it was busy so get in quick!

  1. Homemade food..Yipeee!!! At last another good place I’m stumbled upon in the Southside. A much needed change to the formula coffee shops like costa, Beanscene etc.

  2. It’s thoroughly recommended, I’ve been a few times since now and the sandwiches are still top notch. Also forgot to mention that there are SAD boxes to give you a top up in this lovely weather.

  3. I’ve been a couple of times, the food is fab!

  4. I work nearby and we are spoiled for choice here with many different shops/venues and cafes for lunch but Grianach gets my business every day. The service is amazing, the food is prepared to a high standard and so tasty, the portions are very generous but the prices are very modest. Each day I try their soup as they have like to try out wonderful flavours and it feels like a little adventure everyday that always has a happy ending. It is amazing. The staff are superb. The place is so lovely, relaxing and has a great atmorsphere. Would higly recommend this as my favourite and THE BEST COFFEE SHOP in Glasgow.
