Inspire by Modou a trip through Modou’s life

Chef Modou Diagne has developed a new dining experience inspired by his story. From growing up in Senegal to arriving in Glasgow with only £200 in his wallet to owning one of Glasgow’s best restaurants. The new menu chronicles his journey through a customised five-dish tasting menu.

Every eight weeks, the next chapter in the life of Chef Modou is released.  Dishes on the menu include his favourite childhood foods and recipes inspired by experiences with friends as well as recollections with mentor Nico Simeone, who was the chef at 111 originally and is now expanding the Six by Nico brand.

The menu is available every Thursday to Saturday and starts with Modou’s daily special from then on you get to choose which part of Chef Modou’s life you would like to follow, be it remembering his first taste of salmon, to a fishing trip with the boys.

Mark went along for a look at what to expect, here are his delicious photos (not jealous at all!)

Verdict

Making your way through a menu with a real story behind each dish was not only an extremely tasty way to spend the evening, it was also a pleasure to take part in the life journey of chef Modou.  Food and memories are entwined and this menu and this concept shows it. Delicious food with a story.
