Belstar Prosecco to start. Sweet, light, fruity but with a tartness behind it.
Insalata Caprese
needed a bit of seasoning which is good to do yourself. Pesto not too strong to taste but lovely smell. Worked well. Creamy mozzarella.
Bruschetta Legumi Arostiti
choice of tomato and basil or roasted peppers, we went for the peppers and it smelled great –
2 slices of nicely toasted slices of bread with roasted red and yellow peppers and a small side salad
Served with a slightly acidic but lovely light zesty white from Tuffoli Gavi (Italy)
Parmigiano Melanzane
Aubergine not greasy, quite meaty, held the sauce well and actually very pasta-like too, so the pasta wasn’t missed making this a good low carb option. Thick sauce. Ms foodie kept stealing it, so must have been good!
Penne Sardo
pasta cooked al dente, good kick, bits of sausage and pepperoni and chilli. Fresh Parmesan. Good coating tom sauce.
Both dishes served with Riva Leone Barbera (Italy) Red smelled lovely, fruity and wholesome, had a dry bitter finish
Panna Cotta
Very creamy and strong vanilla taste, tart fruits to accompany.
Tiramisu
Firm not soggy sponge, came with fresh cream to pour and a biscotti wrapped up thingy
Nice coffee taste.
Both served with Brachetto d’Aqui Rosa Regale Castello Banfi (Italy), Fuzzy red, sweet and fruity blackcurrant taste, only 7.5% Like a Lambrusco
Overall, a great night, well worth £25 a head. Very good food, informative chat from Bibendum as well as some good wine. Friendly staff and a very nice setting for this type of event.
