French Alp inspired menu on special this January at Cote
Being on an email list can be annoying, but it can also be rewarding. We have previously signed up for Cote emails and get special links sent through to entice us to visit. This time the special was a bottle of wine when two main courses are purchased from their a la carte menu, including the new Alpine specials.
We liked the look of the alpine menu, potatoes, cheese, cream – what is there not to love?!
First up, Diots. Smoked sausage and cherry tomatoes in a white wine and caramelised onion sauce served with sourdough. This was a filling starter. I can imagine making this at home and settling down on the sofa with a huge bowl of it.
A tartiflette lux was ordered to share. Sliced potatoes, caramelised onion, bacon lardons topped with Reblochon and Comte cheese. Served with green salad, Bayonne ham, cornichons, honey tomatoes and sourdough bread.
Gooey cheese atop creamy tender potatoes, bliss. We washed this down with a bottle of Anciens Temps Colombard Sauvingnon Blanc which was crisp and went with both courses. It’s as if someone had matched the wines with the menu – funny that!
2 courses each, a bottle of wine and two coffees plus service charge came to £48.79 and I didn’t need dinner later on.
