Abeline Experience dessert heaven at Loop and Scoop
The West end of Glasgow is the place to be if you love things sweet. Our junior reporter Abs went along with her mum to check out the new ice cream and churro bar, Loop and Scoop, at 665 Great Western Rd.
Loop & Scoop has been open for a few weeks now. Previously this unit was Chequers cocktail House and before that Persia which we reviewed in 2012. Apparently, it was also Silvano’s Italian for a short period too.
For those rare sunny days there is outdoor seating in the form of stools and small tables.

Look at these goodies! Fluffy churros perfect for dipping into sauces or scooping out dollops of dreamy ice cream. The combos they offer are lip-smackingly good. My fave is the Nutella filled ones….but the lil’ churro bites box is immense too. Top it off with the running taps of melted chocolate…both milk and white….and oh, mamma….that’s worth breaking your diet for! Though they won’t let you put your head under the taps….I asked!!!
The signature Loop & Scoop dish is plentiful….a generous portion of ice cream, with so many delicious flavours to choose from (mango sorbet, banoffee, mint Aero and Coconut Bounty are some of those available for munching) topped with a huge looped churro…..absolute yumminess!
There’s breakfasts, teas, coffees, milkshakes (in cute old style milk bottles) and big homemade cakes to take your fancy too! If you’re strange and don’t want the churros that is!
Having sampled their VERY goods on launch night, I have been back twice! Each time trying something new.
There’s plenty of seats, both upstairs, downstairs and outside. Be prepared to queue though as this place is packed…..but it is definitely worth the wait!
There’s been more misses than hits when it comes to good churros IMHO but L&S, as I now affectionately refer to them, are masters of the churros! So what can I say about this place? I WANT TO LIVE HERE!!!
