How to make Nettle Crisps
There’s Nettle Soup and Nettle Beer but what about Nettle Crisps? Cheap and easy to make as well as a healthy alternative to packet crisps.
This recipe uses nutritional yeast, which we have seen used in vegan recipes. It can be found online and in Tesco, Holland and Barrett. It has a nutty, almost cheesy umami flavour.
Nettle Crisps Recipe
Ingredients
A bowl full of young nettle leaves
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Freshly ground salt & pepper
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (or Parmesan if not vegan or you don’t have any)
Method
Combine oil, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and nutritional yeast (or cheese) in a large bowl.
The nettles will sting here so be aware!
Toss in your leaves and make sure they get a good coating.
Place the nettles on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake in a low oven at around 130C until they crisp up or cook in an air fryer.
Place the nettle crisps in a bowl.
Munch.
