The leaning tower of Bautzen
One of the must see sights in Bautzen is the Reichenturm, which forms part of the old city fortifications. You’ll find it at the Eastern edge of the old town at the end of Reichenstrass and before Kornmarkt (also near to the Liebenfrauenkirche).

According to legend, the tower was constructed around 1490, with a clock bell added in 1555. The tower has seen many skirmishes and has survived being set on fire a few times as well.
One thing you may notice is that the tower tilts, this is due to the foundations being inadequate for the structures that have been added to the tower over the years. The tilting wasn’t secured until 1953! The tower still has a tilt of 1.44m from the base to the top and is known as the Leaning Tower of Bautzen.
