The folks over in Edinburgh have been getting all excited about a global food carnival called Restaurant Day.
Founded in Helsinki, the idea is for lots of restaurants to pop up for one day only, then disappear as quickly as they emerged.
800+ stalls and eateries pop at the quaterly events in Helsinki and the movement has now spread to 55 countries worldwide.
Scotland is getting involved in the next one, on 15 November. Cate Devine wrote a good piece about it in the Herald, the other day.
Glasgow should get involved, too. What’s your dream food? If you ran a restaurant what would it be like? Find out, even if just for a few hours by setting up a stall, opening up your house or convincing your local business to let you play in their kitchen!
Our friends at Edinburgh’s Total Food Geeks are taking over a local chipshop Giovanni’s for lunchtime service, for example.
We hear blogger Edinburgh Foody will be hosting an event in soup cafe Union of GeniusUnion of Genius, too.
Whatever you come up with, get involved. Register your event on the www.restaurantday.org site so everyone can find it and join the world’s biggest food carnival!
