A taste of award winning Loch Lomond whisky Steam & Fire

Loch Lomond Whiskies recently launched Steam & Fire. The new single malt whisky is finished in heavily charred American Oak, flamed at Loch Lomond Whiskies’ own traditional cooperage. (Read about our visit to Loch Lomond Distillery here and see the cooperage in action)

Steam & Fire Tasting Notes

We shared a glass with Frankie. He seems to like sniffing whisky.

A golden yellow colour and first impressions on the nose are sweet and fruity. Lots of orchard fruits such as green pear and apple come through alongside sweet vanilla fudge and some woody spices such as clove.

Next, the taste. A slightly oily mouthfeel, again with those apples and pears and that vanilla fudge moves onto toffee apple.

The spices are still there, hints, not much with a light peaty, smokiness.

This whisky tastes of its youth, yet has gentle peat smoke and those layers of fruits.

Steam & Fire is out now and retails for £45.  It can be purchased at specialist retailers including Master of Malt, as well as directly fromwww.lochlomondwhiskies.co.uk
