Camping next to nature in Rothesay
Roseland Holiday Park is somewhere to stay if you are looking for budget accommodation on the Isle of Bute. The site has permanent caravans, glamping pods, a campsite for tents, berths for mobile homes etc, with vehicle charging areas and power points.
We stayed in the pods which hold up to 4 people or a very comfortable two-person stay. The sleeping areas consist of a double bed situated at the rear of the pod, and a ‘single’ bed on both sides.
Within the pod, there is a mini fridge, microwave, electric kettle, remote control TV, and also remote control fan heating. When we stayed at the site it was early spring, so a bit chilly at times but the pod heated up quickly once the heating was switched on.
On-site, there is a small cooking area (bring your own stove etc.), and a wash area for dishes etc.
Also on site are toilets, and showers (£1 coin needed for shower use). For a campsite, the toilets are well maintained and relatively clean.
Tent/wild camping is permitted during the closed seasons. The site operates an ‘honesty box’ system during these times for anyone wishing to pay something towards their stay.
There is ample parking available on site, which is handy, as best to get there by car. If you’re feeling adventurous/fit, the site is not too far a walk from the Serpentine but this is uphill all the way!
Note – The campsite backs onto a working sheep farm, so be prepared for some bleating from sheep…and awwws from campers when they see the little lambs.
