Brunch in Dundee
Not far from the city centre of Dundee, within walking distance of DCA and Dundee Rep is The West House.
It’s a popular place, lots of booked tables, we hope this was a good sign

What we ate
If you are visiting here maybe eat or drink first….it was 30 mins from entry to coffee…ouch. That’s factoring in 5 min wait to get a table.
Anyway, the food. First up, Hebridean Eggs. Eggs Benedict made with Stornoway black pudding. OK, nothing to make me rush back and order from here again. Some toasting to the muffin, and maybe a scraping of butter would have been good.
Next up, an oven baked omelette with sundried tomatoes, Parma ham and cheese. Mr C reported “Omelette was good, nice flavours & not undercooked”
Breakfast Burrito, scrambled eggs, sauteed spinach and chorizo with a salsa sauce. Filling, but would have been better with some different ingredients in the burrito that would add some structure against the scrambled egg.
Finally…Pancakes with berry compote, fresh fruit and whipped cream. OK, tasted and looked like shop pancake, not the expected fluffy, freshly made pancakes and where’s that fresh fruit?
Verdict
Meh. All style and no service here. The Pancake PlaceThe Pancake Place was much better…..
