Being a tourist in Berlin is thirsty work and one place we have enjoyed visiting, which we would like to recommend is Tiergarten Quelle. Underneath the SBahn you’ll find a traditional looking bar.. Whilst across the road is a beer garden. It was a pleasant day, so the beer garden was chosen, a popular spot it was as well.
Serving beers from Lemke Brewery, which has been making craft beer in Berlin since 1999. We seem to end up at Lemke bars when wandering around Berlin, they are generally welcoming and serve beer friendly food.
Beer Garden
There’s a handy pedestrian crossing from the Bert garden to the bar, so no need to risk life and limb to get to the toilet!
Within the beer garden is a stall serving a selection of Lemke Beers including pilsner, pale ale, IPA and Weizen.
Grab a table and get your beer
Inside Bar
The inside bar had a wider array of beers available This is when the pedestrian crossing is handy if you are seeking something a bit more exotic.
Menu
Here is the full menu including drinks.
Food
Beer and food always go together well. So an early dinner was ordered.
Two Berlin Bouletten with fried egg and fried potatoes. What is Berlin Bouletten? It’s like a hamburger. Consisting of a mixture of minced pork, bread and onion.
Pork schnitzel with vegetables and thick chips. Did you know? …Wienerschnitzel is actually a geographically protected term in Germany and Austria and can only be made with veal. This is a German Schnitzel which is traditionally made with pork.
Verdict
Away from the tourists, a chance to sit with real Berliners, eat some hearty food and drink craft beers. The only downside is having to cross the road for the toilets.
